Comments: Tim, it's funny that you mention the spelling around 'Waggle" vs "Wigle" Springs.
Shortly after arriving in Shilo in Sept. 1960, Mr. Brown gave some sort of essay assignment to my Grade 6 class at O'Kelley.
For whatever reason, I chose to describe riding my bike To "Wigle Springs" (I admit the spelling was a best guess on my part!)and which the was deemed to be in error by said Mr. Brown, and I got a red circle around the word. How nice to be vindicated almost 49 years later!
Comments: I just found out that "Waggle" Springs is really called Wigle Springs. Never seeing it written down, it is an easy thing to mis-hear....lots of little kids say "tagger" when they mean "tiger".
As someone who was between 6 and 9 years old when I lived in Shilo in the early 60's, it seemed like quite a long way, but its less than 7 km by road from where I lived on Sapper Avenue.

Comments: Shilo administration haven’t given us a specific date yet, but have promised there would be plenty of photos of the event for the ShiloBrats site.(a Special Edition feature is being planned)
ShiloBrats was first alerted to this by Blake Mooney last year. Bill Brown and Faye Helgason were quick to mobilize and arranged with Larry Weisgerber (also a Shilobrat and in charge of the demolition) to remove and prepare the original hardwood floor from the gymnasium stage into 2” x 4” momento pieces. This has already been done and PEH’S of PEPS (pieces of PEPS) or is that too clever, will be offered in exchange for your photos from Shilo (the ones you keep saying you’ll send in) and photos of you today for The Way We Are feature. Don’t wait for the announcement, a list of recipients is already started for the photos coming in and received in the last year. Send us photos, you will be put on the list, and the momentos should be ready for sending out soon. You can do more than just keep the memory of PEHS alive, you can bring it home. Another Special Edition is planned on ways to display your PEHS momento, and a contest for the best momento display. Winner gets the rest of the school.

Comments: Hi everyone. I lived in Shilo from 1950-59 and again from 1961-68. From 1950-59 we lived at #26 Esquimalt Crescent and upon returning in 1961 at#17 Sennybridge until 1963, then at #32 Sennybridge through 1968. When I looked for these PMQs at the 2005 reunion, #17 Sennybridge had been torn down (sigh). Many good memories of my youth in Shilo, mis-spent and otherwise. My father, Ed, was a clerk at headquarters and a member of the RCA. My mother's name was Hilda. I have one brother, Mark, born in 1955 on the base and who alaso, obviously lived in the three houses with us. This site has been responsible for some nice re-connections with friends from those days. Enjoy spring, everyone. Ron

Comments: I just checked out my old PMQs on the new feature (87 Frontenac and 19 Stonehenge). Both look so different now...and very small - lol!
Our first house (87 Frontenac) was a really awful turquoise color with a big cement porch with white pillars, and if I remember right it was plaster or something like that on the outside. That porch is now gone and house looks re-sided. I don't know why I thought it would look the same all these years later, but I did. Funny.
Comments: Remenber when they droped small parachutes over the base and attached to the them where vochers for money or movie passes or candy. That was early in the sixty.I remenber all of us PMQ BRATS running for the parachutes.Where else can you have memories like this except Shilo.Does anyone else remember this? I also remember when a training jump happened over the base and we thought it was the small parachutes and we all ran over to get them not knowing that men where attached to the parachutes.I bet there where surprised to see a bunch of kids running after them.
