Comments: Sorry for the mistypes as I know not how to type. Just scrolled back + noted that Ray mentioned the 60s era. Am I really that old?????? Wot Happened???????
Comments: Hello, Ray! Hope you are well. Yes, thanks - it was the Gradwell's horses. I had made attempts to get my brain synapses to fire in that memory department but they failed me!!!!! I could only come up with the G initial but not the rest of the name. Are you still working or did you retire yet. I think you have been working in "the field" longer than I. Heard David Johnson + some other settled in the Ponoka area but not sure how valid the info is. To some others. Naturally, I remember the McCabe ranch well. Perhaps few remember Roy, the elderly man that worked there. He was one of my favorite guys there, I don't think many knew him that well. He did his work well, was quiet. Many thought he was a grouch but he was very kind to me. David McCabe last I heard (talked to him) - was doing very well, lived in the interior of B.C., very happily married and very content with life. Tickled with having a baby!!! Heloo, Cindy, I remember you as well, You had some siblings if I recall + were perhaps 2 years younger than me (maybe a bit more). Ches Sheppard + I remain close friends. Though We have aged, Ches has changed very little in appearance. He just laughs when I pretend to be angry with him b/c he hasn't changed much. So many names, so many memories. It's good we have this site. Cheers to Otterkins (David) for commencing it + cheers to those who are now maintaining it. Cindy, I did post a pictures of myself and my youngest son when he was deployed to Afghanistan in Feb of this year. So, that's how I basically look now. Funny, spent so many years running away from the military + then my youngest joins it - without even being aware I was a "brat". All my uncle's on my father's side served. Be safe Marlene

Comments: The horses by the gate belonged to Gradwells. They used to let my sisters & myself ride them. Barney Gradwell worked for the Shilo fire department. His son's, Jim & Don (Sam) are well known to Shilo people from the '60's era. Great old memories!

Comments: Sharon there are two Wessilius's in Brandon, according to canada.411 dot com. I think the second one might be them. Good luck. And tell them about our web site; I bet they would really get a kick out of it!!

Comments: First of all I have no idea how or where to reply to all the great answers everyone gave me on the Guestbook Interactive or wherever they are but I will answer here & hopefully whoever put my question there will do the same with this one. I remember McCabe's stable, it use to be out past the forest reserve then they moved it closer up down the road from the gate because I use to save the .25 per hr. that I got for babysitting until I had the dollar you needed to rent a horse. The horses I am talking about are the ones closer up by the gate near the pig barn. So it was probably Bill Wessilius, the name Bill sort of rings a bell but I don't think I ever knew his last name. I wonder if he would still live in Brandon? It is one of those childhood memories that has come back to me & I keep thinking about it for some strange reason. Thanks again everyone, Sharon
Comments: I remember the Mcabes horse ranch that was at the far end of the forest range. It was bugger trying to peddle our bikes through the sand hills to get there for an 1/2 ride.

Comments: Sharon, if the horses were from the Wessilius's, then I thought I'd tell you that his first name is Bill. Last I heard they were in Brandon as Melody points out. Before leaving Shilo in 68, I was the family's babysitter. That was when Alynne, the oldest, was still alive. She passed away at age 10. (Melody, I remember Janet well. She would have been too young to remember me though).
