Marlene Gaudet??!! I don't know if you remember me. I remember you quite well, as well as Don. I remember hearing a few years back of Don's passing. There's been so many Shilo brats gone on to bigger and better things, I hope, in the last few years. With so many of us in our 50's and 60's I guess it's inevitable. Regarding the Green's...I see Delaine Manary(nee:Green) all the time here in Winnipeg. Her husband and I both work at the RCMP HQ in Winnipeg. We are both retired from the rcmp but are "double dipping" and truly enjoying it. They live about a 2 minute drive from us. All the best...Alf

Whoops on my part as well. How inconsiderate of me. I neglected to mention Mickey Green. She resides in Brandon + is as busy as ever. The woman just never stops - I honestly think she doesn't know how! Naturally, she is older now - we still keep in contact as I do with Ed + Ralph (both by Calgary). I may possible travel to Winnipeg this summer + if able, will pop into Brandon (for 2-3 days) + naturally see Mickey among some others.
Regards to ALL
Marlene

Regards Ida. I hope that life has treated you well. I loved swimming (all other sports), lifeguarding + especially teaching at the pool. Funny you should mention my hair. That is the second time someone from Shilo has commented on it this week. I was so self-conscious about that ratted mess. It was so damaged by the chorine and my mother would never let me trim it. As for the spelling of my name - no problem - there are many Gaudette's + Gaudet's and perhaps all are of one family + someone changed the spelling. My family (both sides) arrived in the 1600s. The name was spelled Gaudette then. My brother, Don, died - it gave him much pleasure to discover that we arrived so early in Canada.
Best to You + Yours
P.S. I recommend to many to flip through the yearbooks - there are so many memories on the pages that have escaped our memory banks in our brains!!!!!! OR perhaps it is just mine!!!!!

Marelene Gaudette!! When your name is mentioned, I remember you & Mrs. Green from the many days spent at the pool. You with your long flowing blond hair, all the kids loved hanging out with you. General Strange Hall was a safe haven for many of us back then. ) Thanks for being there!
Ida, (yes, one of the Oake girls!)

Tim's note about the "acceptable" spelling of Waggle/Wigle Springs brought to mind that this little sandy and tranquil spot on the Assiniboine River was actually a place where people that were brought to this "desolate" place from all over Canada (and elsewhere)sought solace and comfort from the stress of military career and the small village life in a harsh and unfamiliar place.

It seems to be a "touch stone" with many of us with ties to Shilo.

I recall that my best bud, Paul Stewart and I camped out there one lovely July weekend in an old canvas tent that had seen better days. We managed to catch a few pickerel with our trusty Mitchell reels and worms for bait. When we returned home on Sunday night, it was debatable who had more woodticks imbedded in our butts-Paul & I or the Stewart's poor old lab/beagle cross dog "Badgie"!

Later, when the opposite sex became a priority on one's radar scope, I fondly recall standing around a bonfire one calm and star-lit night at our dear 'Waggle/Wigle" Springs with my arm around a certain lovely young lady from PEHS not realizing at the time that it just doesn't get any better than the sweet promise of a young life with the promise of the world ahead of us!

In Shilo, 1965 til the end of school on 8 Esquimalt Cresent. The Robillards lived on 2. I thought this site had closed down a number of years ago, thus, surprised to find it running fine + dandy. Tidbits for your memory - played sports, lifeguarded at pool. Older sister, Judy, in Winnipeg. Older brother, Donald, deceased aged 38. Little brother was a baby born in Brandon in 1966. Recall many names here in the guestbook. Real sorry for kicking you in the shins Ronny, but you should not have listened to Judy!!!!!! Hope all of you are in the best of health + have had happy lives. Hey, Lynn, sorry I haven't sent any e-mails of late. Been busy!

Hah. Bill, clearly the red circling event has stayed with you all these years. If it's personal vindication you'd like I can provide you Mr. Brown's email address. I'm sure he'd have a good chuckle. Remember going to Waggle Springs often. Wigle?! Really!? Who knew?! Ron

Also a search on Wigle Springs turns up this entry from the Manitoba Conservation Center as late as 2001, suggesting that it might not be a former name, but still be the proper name that is 'also known as' Waggle Springs.
