Thanks for that Brad, this is the response we need to keep information accurate. If you see any names or information incorrect or missing, please respond like Brad in the Guestbook or send privately through the Contact form in the side menu. There is a Facebook Group with a topic called 'Do you remember your Shilo address? where some of this information comes from. Many of the entries did not include the names of their brothers or sisters and some of the ladies may not have used their family (Shilo) name. Please correct us when you see this. At this point, we feel it will be easier for you to correct something you see, than to fill in something you don't. What we would like is more input of names addresses and dates... and especially any photos you have from the time you lived in Shilo. Another part of this project being prepared is a street chart showing where and when everyone (that we know of) lived there, please keep the info coming to keep us accurate and up to date.

My 3 brothers and I lived in Shilo from 1971 - 1976 and have lots of great memories of being a teenager in Shilo. From PEHS to the teen center to just hanging out on the base. Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year and all the best for 2009!!

ShiloBrats 2008, year end review

2008 started off looking forward to another 60’s Shilobrat Reunion, organized by Bill Brown and a committee of seasoned reunion veteran‘s, this reunion has been popular and well attended in the past, but did not receive enough support to carry on this time. With two major reunions in Shilo cancelled in successive years, a look to smaller regional reunions for brats to re-connect may have to fill the gap.

The idea to add a Memorium page was proposed by Lynn (Davis) Jackson early in the year, and became the biggest challenge for the web team to date, Months of deliberation and fine tuning of information and presentation went on in the background with everyone on the team contributing. The Remembering page was launched in July to make aware for everyone, any passings that have happened within the Shilobrat community.

In the Yearbook section, a call for the missing 1977 cover, and 71 and 72 Condita yearbooks were responded to by Cindy Buckman, and Tom Carey. Tom sent in the 77 cover scan, and Cindy provided team member Glen McLean her collection of yearbooks from 1974 - 77, to re-scan and improve the quality of the already posted pages. Other responses indicated there were no yearbooks published for 1971 and 72 ?? Does anyone remember why?

And thanks to Rob Howitt for bringing our attention to Errol Bredin and the plight of the northern prairie skink. Who knew?…now we do. It has been both educational, adding to the Links page, and fun, adding and naming 'Shilo' our new ShiloRat (..er lizard, sorry 'bout that) as ShiloBrats mascot, and important attention to this endangered species, and the ecosystems surrounding Shilo.

Blake Mooney, Shilobrat, now with the military and stationed in Shilo, informed us of the impending demolition of PEHS, then the wheels started turning, as Faye thought, could any part of the school be saved, and turned into a momento for those of us who still have fond memories of our high school years and time in Shilo. Together Bill Brown and Faye Helgason, connected with another Shilobrat, now military and stationed in Shilo, Larry Weisgerber, who just happened to be in charge of the demolition project. With the co-operation of Shilo administration, hardwood flooring from the gym stage has been removed and prepared into momento size pieces that will bear an authentication stamp, and will be ready for an upcoming 2009 ShiloBrats promotion.

Many of you remember your address(s) and neighbours from the time you lived in Shilo, and included them in your postings to the Guestbook and InterActive! We thought it would be fun and give you more reasons to visit and interact with the site, if we could discover who else lived there before and after you. The category ‘Where did you live in Shilo’ was created in InterActive! with the forum 'Shilo-opoly' for you to read and post your memories of living in Shilo. From these and other sources (Shilo Facebook Groups) we are creating a visual chart showing at a glance, who lived on what street, their address and when. (2009 project) You can participate by posting what you remember in the Guestbook, InterActive!, or send us privately on the Contact form.

Even more fun would be viewing your photos from that time with friends or family around your house, then seeing what that house looks like today. A new album ‘Where did you live in Shilo’ has been started in the Gallery to do just that. It has been quietly developing in the background, building up content, to formally be introduced along with our upcoming promotion in 2009. You can still view it currently (last album in the Gallery) as it develops, Faye just returned from a whirlwind visit to Shilo to view the PEHS hardwood project and took photos of over 60 houses that we currently have information on who and when brats lived there.

In regards to present day Shilo, Welcome CFB Shilo was added to the Links page with news and events in Shilo today and the current on-line edition of the Shilo Stag newspaper.

The final addition to ShiloBrats for 2008 has been another fun project matching up (where we can) a yearbook or school photo insert with your photo in The Way We Are, amazing similarities after 40 years or so! This section of ShiloBrats will have regular updates (some of these photos are now years old and should be replaced with a more current photo of you) and new additions. Check This just in... to see when and where changes and additions happen.

ShiloBrats web team thank everyone who visited, input and interacted with ShiloBrats in 2008, your input and activity in the Guestbook, InterActive!, ShiloBrats Gallery and through the Contact form, help keep ShiloBrats interesting, informative, and evolving with new projects and activity to bring you back, inform, entertain, and remember being a kid again. In 2009 there will be even more for you to come back for. From ShiloBrats web team, Faye, Edie, Lynn, Judy, Lonnie, Doug, Glen and Ken...Happy New Year!
