1980's teacher Mr. Barnes, Physics and Computer Science, also coached the Reach for The Top team in the mid 80's. PEHS began competing on Reach for the Top in 1969, Were you on a Reach for the Top team? What do you remember about Mr. Barnes and Reach for the Top.

Our Sunday Teacher Feature stays with the 'Principal' theme with Mr. Birch, and showcases this unique photo of the group of male teachers in 1960, from Harvey McGhie's archives donated to ShiloBrats. Several have already been featured, four became Principals, Mr. Baltesson's wife was also a popular teacher in Shilo, Mr. Balitsky, who was probably everyone's teacher at one time, stayed to the end in 1987, and will be featured later, and a very rare photo of Mr. Hilton, who was unique and rare himself as a person, a teacher and inspiration to everyone around him. What are your memories of this great group of teachers.

Most of us only knew Mr. Emond as 'The Principal', but he was also a classroom teacher in the early days of Shilo schools and went on to become Supervising Principal over all our schools.

Mr. Everett, at PEHS for 1975 - 76, then back again for 1982 - 87. Taught English, Social Studies, General Business and Law. Another character in the classroom, also coached Basketball and Volleyball teams.

Grade 9, the gateway to high school, and the toughest teacher trio you were ever going to go through, Mr. Wolfe, Mr. Bohonos and Mr. Crandle (already featured). You heard about them before you got there. Today's Teacher Feature, Mr. Wolfe and Mr. Bohonos established their grade 9 reputations at Greenwood before it was moved to PEHS in the early 60's. There was a fun side to them, but you didn't get away with anything, as they prepared you for your high school journey. What do you remember about running the gauntlet in grade 9. Mr. Michaluk taught biology & chemistry at PEHS from 1970 to 1987, and like a lot of our teachers coached sports after hours. There has to be some pretty good stories about this guy, especially around 1979. Maybe it was a chemistry or biology experiment gone wrong, or maybe he just watched an episode of Welcome Back Kotter, and was inspired, he got a perm, then followed the era of Welcome Back Michaluk. Were you around then? What do you remember...

A big, sincere "Wow!" and thanks to the Team for the development of the excellent "Life Was Calling" and "Teacher" features!

I will try to contribute any little memories of the teachers as they come to mind, with a caveat that the memories may be getting a bit "fuzzy" over the eons!

Mr. Rumball: as stated, having Mr. Rumball as Home Room teacher in Grade 11 was akin to spending every day with Will Shakespeare himself. He was such a kind and gentle man, with many interesting previous life experiences before arriving in Shilo.

However, one day he was none too pleased with a certain student in the class (namely, Mr. Don Jordan) who took the liberty of reciting several paragraphs of Macbeth in a manner such that Mick Jagger would have been proud! Mr. Rumball was indeed a unique personality!

Put Shakespeare in the classroom and you have Mr. Rumball, a grade 10, 11 & 12 English teacher with theatrical flair. Every day was a play for him, every word, every move was done with theatrical style. He called every student Ms. or Mr. with your last name. "Mr. Turner, why are you late again!" and the amazing thing is, he was 75 years old when he did it.
