Anyway, I am hoping to make contact with some friends. looking for Sandy and Michael Carleton, both now living in Brandon as far as I know. Thank you.

Comments: As Manager of the Shilo Goldeyes for the first three years of the club's existence, I have a number of stories that will be of interest to all of those great people who contributed to this successful venture. My first story relates to the selection of the name for the club. As all Manitobans know, the Goldeye is a fish caught in Lake Winnipeg and is regarded as somewhat of a delicacy. The was a natural choice for a name for our club but it was not the only name considered. I had a name that I strongly supported. It came from a project I was working on with American gunners to develop a computerized fire control system for gun positions. A fellow officer had the assignment of developing an amphibious vehicle to transport the computerized command post; one that would be capable of "swimming" short distances. It was called "THE BOBCAT" and I thought that this water-tight vehicle gave us the perfect name for our swim club. I was saved from significant embarrassment though, when just before we decided on a name, the "Bobcat" had its first test run ..... and it sank!!
Comments: On Saturday Sep 27th, I had one of the nicest surprises of my life. My older son came to my room telling me that there would be a surprise guest. A few minutes later my younger son arrived and introduced our guest - it was LYNN DAVIS who I had not seen since I left Shilo in 1964. Lynn is now a grandmother, almost a Senior Citizen and has led a very positive life, making the right decisions at the right time. Perhaps all of those hours in the swimming pool provided the discipline to make those decisions. We had a wonferful day reminiscing and exchanging photos. Her one big question was "Where is Jim McMeeken?" Can anybody help us out on that one??
As I often say, "I have many more days behind me than I have ahead of me" and, as I approach the twilight of my life, it is so wonderfully gratifying to know that I have had an impact on the lives of some I have met along the way .... especially an exceptional individual like Lynn Davis.
If there are other Goldeye "alumni" out there who would like to make an old veteran's day, please contact here on the site or via my email address.
And thank you all from the bottom of my heart for this wonderful site!!

Comments: Back to school September ends with a salute to our teacher's support staff, the Librarians and Secretaries. Show them some love!
The PEHS yearbooks only began including our unheralded heroes around 1970, and there were just two Librarians noted in all that time, Miss Rankin and Miss Traill (who also did some teaching).
Secretaries changed a few more times but were the obvious personalities of the school office. They had the tough job of managing us bRATS, between teachers. Check Teacher Feature in the Gallery. Looking back, what do you remember about the school library and office.

Comments: Being Sunday and all, Teacher Feature will conclude with a teacher who worked on Sundays. Mr. Brown was a Greenwood teacher, grade 6 & 8 from 1959 to 65, along with choral programs and the organization of the first library at Greenwood School.
Were you in a choir? Check the Entertainment section of ShiloBrats and it looks like every kid in Shilo was at one time. School choirs, church choirs, competition choirs, and entertainment choirs like Enter the Young.
Although Mr. Brown played a small and distant part of the teaching world in Shilo then, he plays a large and important part of their world today, keeping track and keeping in touch personally with many of our early teachers who are still around including, Miss Sheehan, Miss Graham, Mrs. Wescott and Mr. McGhie. Mr. Brown is ShiloBrats teacher consultant and has passed on to us many original photographs of students, teachers and Shilo school life from teachers collections and from his own library project on Shilo teachers.
We conclude Teacher Feature with Mr. Brown because he is also our latest Life Was Calling feature, to be posted shortly. Check News Flash! on ShiloBrats home page for the posting, and follow his fascinating Do What You Love! story which is still going strong.

Comments: ShiloBrats Gallery Teacher Feature: Cover Story
Miss Sheehan appears on the cover of Teacher Feature as the longest serving Principal of PEHS. English teacher, drama coach, yearbook mentor, Mary T was always there for us, and always there with us for almost three decades. She survived the 60's brats with their ruthless practical jokes and attempts to get under the skin of our teachers, later to become Vice Principal and get even. She always handled it with grace, even when the crude thumbtacks on the seat failed to get a rise out of her. She never let you know they were there. In 1970, Miss Sheehan became Principal and remained in that position until PEHS closed in 1987.
There isn't anyone who attended PEHS that wouldn't remember Miss Sheehan, and there isn't anyone who doesn't have a story. Mary T is 85 this year, and she will be watching. Make her blush!!! What do you remember about Mary T Sheehan.
