Comments: Well Doug (D)
This is the first time you and I have agreed. While, I use Facebook I do not go to the Shilo Brats on Facebook. I would much rather come here for news. I hope that the web team spend as much time here as they have in the past and not take some time from here to support Facebook Brat postings.

Comments: As members of the Armed Forces, they are called Heroes, and to a child growing up on a Military Base, they were Heroes, not just for their military activities, but for the extra time they put in as our sports coaches, Guide and Scout leaders, Teachers, and mentors. They were just our moms and dads then, but the extra time they spent helping shape our lives should not go overlooked.
Life Was Calling Fred Allen follows up the story of the Shilo Goldeyes Swim Club from our Special Edition section. Fifty years later, two heroes that founded, coached and managed that special club, Capt. Fred Allen and Cpl. Jim McMeeken are still with us to share their memories of the Goldeyes.
Go back through the original Goldeyes story to appreciate the time and effort that so many of our moms and dads put in over and above what they did for a living. It's what made and still makes Shilo a very special part of our life.
We would like to see some activity in ShiloBrats Guestbook. What do you remember about your coaches, trainers, leaders, teachers. Was your mom or dad one of them? Or a friend's mom or dad? Did they make an impact on your life? There are more stories out there, what's yours?
Comments: Well Said. Thank you. SIC ITUR AD ASTRA Cheers Turk

Comments: On our way home with Team Canada from our overseas trip visiting the troops. I have so many thoughts in my head and many strong emotions in my heart that are hard to express. I will post pictures later, but right now I want to simply tell everyone who has a son, daughter, sister, brother, wife or husband who is serving that you should be immensely proud. The members of our CAF are inspirational Canadians who are doing important work.
So many of the troops we saw shared with us their stories of great love for their families and their deep Canadian pride. They love you all, they miss you terribly and they can't wait to see you all again soon.
As Canadians the best thing we can give them back is our personal thanks and vocal support. Nothing means more to the men and women who serve than knowing Canadians appreciate, care about and value the work of our Canadian Armed Forces.
Veterans, those who currently serve and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives for us, are the people who have and do protect our peaceful way of life. Never ever take our beautiful Country, our democratic freedoms and our liberties for granted.
