Comments: Well, Doug-if the "meatheads" had not made us take the wire down-we likely would have gone on to brilliant careers at NASA or Boeing!
However, I also recall that we were on the verge of discovering the wonders of pursuing romance with the lovely young ladies at PEHS-so that would probably have influenced our further pursuit of technical excellence!
If you believe any of this, I have land in the Florida Everglades you might be interested in purchasing!
Comments: Yes, you are right Bill, the whole team works tirelessly and deserves our commendation. But in the beginning when Otter was putting together site, he faltered as his physical health began to deteriorate and expenses grew, it was Faye who became the backbone of Shilobrats and her contributions kept Otter involved until the time of his death while Shilobrats lived on thanks to Faye.
One Bill Gillespie story. He and I were fascinated by electronics. So grabbing (stealing?) some of the signal wire that crisscrossed the prairie, we set up a working telegraph using our train transformers and meccano sets and if it hadn't been for the meatheads comploaining about a black wire running from his bedroom to mine, both on the second floors of our houses - well who knows what would have happened to our futures? Would Bill still have become a successful pilot? Would we both have become electrical engineers? Or maybe it was fortunate the meatheads had to demand the wire be removed. What do you think Bill?
Comments: In support of Doug J's comment regarding Faye, I totally agree that she is a critical element in the "glue" that holds this whole Shilobrats thing intact! Thank you, Faye!
Also, I never cease to be amazed at the quality of the work done by Edie in the " Life Was Calling" features. Thank you, Edie for adding a whole new dimension to the Shilobrats "thing"!
All us Brats are grateful to the entire Shilobrats Team for their time and efforts spent in maintaining this delicate web of connection that keeps our memories of our time in that special little place on the prairie alive.
Comments: That would be great Karen. Had to miss the last one to dam Niagara Falls that was coming through my basement windows. All is good now so barring the rapture, I shall attend.
Comments: I agree Doug. Faye posted on her recently published "Where Life Took You" feature the picture of the 8 of us who got together last August in Winnipeg at the Grove. I'm hoping we can all get together again sometime this summer with you and Miss Sheehan (and other Winnipeg and Brandon folks in attendance).
Comments: Let's face it, without Faye there would be no Shilobrats. Thank you Faye; you are motivated by a spirit of unhinged generosity and I, for one, am grateful

Comments: Who ever on FACE BOOK, that said Faye has been to all the SHILO REUNIONS,held in SHILO. I know of one she wasn't at in the early 80s ( D )
Comments: At ShiloBrats, we call her “the reunion queen.” She has been to all the Shilo Reunions and co-created the mini-reunion movement. Wherever Faye travels, she becomes a magnet for Shilobrat gatherings, and the mini-reunion idea is now happening with Shilobrats coast to coast.
Life Was Calling Faye Helgason Linesman, read our new addition to the Life Was Calling series in ShiloBrats Special Editions.
Comments: Yes ( D ), there were a few updates on FB yesterday that maybe belonged here. Just between you and me (and the Brativerse), how is it that you can compose and submit such a charmingly authentic account to the "Where Life Took Me" feature (complete with pictures, captions, some drama, and some comedy), but you can't or won't just go on FB (Shilobrats of 50's and 60's group)? Regarding Otter - he was the same age as me, and I saw him around the school, but I didn't really get to know him until the 2002 reunion. I gave him a little gift I made, and he liked it so much that he posted the sweetest compliment about me somewhere on this site. If you email me your address, I will send one just like it to you.
