Comments: Howdy. I was a Shilo brat up until 1961. My Dad was Service Corp. RCASC. He was out at the fuel site until he was Retired on a Medical pension. We moved from Shilo to Halifax NS. I graduated early thanx to my 'way better Army schooling in Shilo. Became RCAF Fire Fighter many years in comox Bc Vancouver Island. When then we were in a Cold War still. My brother Larry was born in Shilo. Brandon Hospital. ..We lived in #7 Ubique . Chris Evoy and I were best buddies. The Finlay boys were across from us in #6 I believe. The Hot family was in #9 Ubique. Floyd was a friend and was down at end of Ubique on the intersecting road which was I believe the first street on right after entering the main gate after going over RR tracks. Been a long time. Hope I remember right. Funny. My nephew Spent time there in Shilo in his career with PPCLI. He is retired, now living outside Winnepeg. I just happened to type,in Camp Shilo in Google. Found Shilo Brats. It was fun to see old Shilo.

Comments: This is a test. Apparently some shilobrats can't access the guestbook to post, and I am testing with this post to see if it works for me, as it did a few days ago.

Comments: In memory of Doug Jenkins, I am going to post his recipe for Cherry Loaf Pound Cake. He was very proud of it, and I can vouch for how delicious it is. LITTLE DEVIL POUND CAKE 2 cups Robin Hood flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 cup granulated sugar, 4 eggs, 1 cup candied cherries (halved), 2 tsp. almond extract, 1 cup butter. Combine flour and salt. Mix 1/2 cup flour mixture with cherries. Cream butter and sugar together; add eggs one at a time. Add remaining 1 and 1/2 cups flour mixture gradually. Stir in extract and the floured cherries. Fold into a 9 by 5 greased loaf pan. Bake at 300 for 90 to 100 minutes, in center of oven. and here are Doug's personal notes: 1. I also add raisins (soaked in water). 2. I use read and green cherries. 3. I microwave the butter for 17 seconds so it is easy to mix butter and sugar. Now if anyone makes this new recipe (called Little Devil Pound Cake), post your comments on this guestbook!! Doug will be reading.
