Comments: Doug Jenkins; Why don't you go craw in a corner and lay down instead of trying to cause trouble here? This a period where we should be remembering all of those who fought for our freedom, not a time to cause petty arguments.

Comments: I loved Mary T. Sheehan and would often call her Mom which she despised, actually I think she liked it! Remember when we had those gatherings in the gym before classes started in the morning. She had asked me to recite a passage of scripture from the Bible and I read a piece from the Koran, it did not go over well!

Comments: I really like the "Teacher Feature", we had so many wonderful, sometimes eccentric influences on our future path in life. I remember Mr. Neumann and his science classes and recall when a couple of us filled the waste can half full of water, covered it with paper scraps and lit it on fire just before he arrived. He came in, rushed to the front of the class and began stomping it down. The result was a wet shoe and bad news for us, detention I think. He also had this metallic representation of the solar system with all the planets and moons magnetically attached to it. We, I can't remember who, did a job on it with elastic bands shooting paper clips at it, planets and moons rolling everywhere, again detention I recall.
I also remember a shop teacher at PEPS, Mr. McCaferty I believe, an Irishman with an Irish temper. The PA system went on and on during a shop class and he lost it. He grabbed a chisel and fired it at the speaker, nailed it dead on and silence was restored.
I also remember a sports teacher Mr. Letain.
What times we had, we need a "story" section just to preserve the tales of times not only at school but living at Shilo in general.
Comments: Some see their path in life clearly, some create their own path, some paths lead to a desired destination, some are interrupted, and some paths change direction through influences and incidents we meet along the way.
Life Was Calling Doug Jordan, our latest addition to the Special Edition: Life Was Calling series … “What ever happened to you since you left Shilo”
“I have gone through life in a pinball machine. Events seemed to have come out of nowhere and with all the good luck I could muster, I have tried to make the most of those events – along the way, I have accumulated good friends, good memories and a good life with my wife, children and grandchildren”... Doug Jordan

Comments: For those new to ShiloBrats, the references to the Monster Mash are an annual Halloween ritual in the Guestbook still haunted by one of the most memorable Halloween parties ever, held in 1964 in the PEHS gym. You will see some photos from it in the Sixties section. The highlight of the night was an awesome stage performance of the hit song Monster Mash by Bobby (Boris) Pickett & the Crypt-Kickers. The song is narrated by a mad scientist whose monster, late one evening, rises from a slab to perform a new dance. The dance becomes "the hit of the land" when the scientist throws a party for other monsters.
The mad scientist is this case was Shilobrat Doug Jordan, who provided the eerie but awesome voice to the stage re-enactment of the song, a performance so memorable to anyone who was there, it's haunting memory is brought back to life every Halloween. Life Was Calling the monster then, next, Life Was Calling Doug Jordan. Check News Flash! for when the new Special Edition is posted.
