It's Monday morning, back to school, on the way to Miss Graham's class, but don't lag in the hallways, Miss McMullen is ever vigilante, she'll make you pay!
Two of the long time lady teachers in Shilo, some will remember them as iron ladies, and many will have memories of their softer side.
Miss McMullen, Occupational Entrance courses, tough as nails but a heart of gold for almost 3 decades.
Miss Mary Graham, French & Math through the 60's & 70's, Miss Graham is still around today and recently donated her Shilo school photos to ShiloBrats. Thank you Miss Graham.
What do you remember about Miss Graham & Miss McMullen.

Comments: Sunday Teacher Feature in the Gallery: Mr. Balitsky, taught at PEHS from the early 60's through the final year in 1987. Pretty much everyone who went to PEHS at one time had him as a teacher. In the photo he is coach of the 1965 Girls Volleyball team. Another one of the all time memorable teachers in Shilo. What do you remember about Mr. Balitsky.

Comments: My son, Michael, told me that, while browsing on Google, he tried the search term "Shilo Goldeyes" and was amazed with what he discovered. He found this site which lead him to a detailed history of the Shilo Goldeyes. He was particularly interested in it because he has many pleasant memories of the Goldeyes. At age 10 he was a member of our undefeated Boys Under 10 relay team which set many records in Manitoba, personally held the age group backstroke record and was second in freestyle only to his outstanding team mate Jamie Currie.
After this discovery, he came to my room announcing that he had found something on the net that would be of interest to me. He opened it up on my computer, revealing the amazing story of the Shilo Goldeyes. At the ripe old age of 92, when I look back over my life in the military, nothing gives me a greater sense of pride and fulfillment than my involvement with the Shilo Goldeyes.
I retired from the Armed Forces in 1969 and began a second career teaching high school Mathematics in Sault Ste. Marie. I retired from teaching in 1982 and embarked on a third "career" as an Author. I have competed 4 novels and, at age 92, am working on my fifth!! I live in the Veteran's Wing of Sunnybrook Hospital, a facility that would make anyone proud of the way Canada takes care of its World War II veterans. I get spoiled here every day !
I will be forever greatful to the creator and contributors to this site for giving me, in the twilight years of my life, such wonderful memories of a very special time. Special thanks to Lynn Davis for her amazing contribution to the Shilo Goldeyes section.
I will be checking this forum every day and would LOVE to hear from anyone who has memories to share. Again, thank you for making my "Golden Years" truly golden with this wonderful site.

Comments: “If it doesn't work out, you can always rout two strips in it and use it for an ashtray.” I'll bet every Shops teacher said that at one time, but there weren't many Shops teachers like Mr. Jarmuske, who also coached sports at PEHS throughout the 70's till the end in 1987.
Visit Teacher Feature in the Gallery and tell us what you remember about Mr. Jarmuske here in the Guestbook.

Comments: Just stumbled on this site today and I was totally blown away!! My Father is Capt. Fred Allen and he was the Manager of the Shilo Goldeyes. He is 92 years of age and still going strong!! He lives in the Veteran's Wing of Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto and he will be so happy when I show him this site.
Does anybody know how to get in touch with LYNN DAVIS, who contributed the photos for the Goldeye section of the site?? If there is a way to arrange a phone call between her and my Father, he would be absolutely thrilled by it.
Thank you SO much for this exceptional site. I found pictures of myself and my older brother BRIAN. He was one of the imitation "Beatles" at the base Talent Show!! I laughed my * * * off when I saw that pic!!
Congratulations again on this wonderful tribute!!

Comments: In the 60's, before Mr. Cooper, Science, aka Physics and Chemistry, were very serious subjects. Mr. Neumann made sure of that, but you could also join the Science Club to see the fun side of it.
What do you remember about Mr. Neumann, and are you still trying to finish his homework.
Visit today's Teacher Feature in the Gallery for a glimpse of the 60's mad scientist Mr Neumann.
