One of most intersting posts I've seen here in a while, Michael. Downright poetic. I remember you, but you were a few years younger than me. Funny how that differece in grade or age used to be so important when we were young. Best of the season to you!

Last night a vivid dream about rows of old neglected houses entered a most welcomed sleep;i hadn't soundly for a couple of nights. The houses resembled the duplexes most armed forces families lived in, in that dream they were not in the shape of a crown, but lined up in rank and file--and bathed in a moody kodak gray/brown tone. They were definitely located on a dry grass prairie and i thought of camp shilo, which must still haunt the memories of many.
What is it about those places where we lived, learned who we are and left us with the indelible imprint that will wake old nearly forgotten images of our youthful spirits. Time our friend and master gives us to reflect on some of the best and often rewarding meetings, if only in a dream.
To all the army brats who made life bearable for a teenager who never felt that he "fit-in" thank you so much. It so sad to see those names on the site who will not tread on the mud again but are remembered by those love and maintain them.
Those houses looked to be empty and forgotten--but in my mind they are filled with friendship, understanding and kindness. Pray for the peace all beings yearn for and deserve. Thank heaven for the music we shared in that postage stamp of a place in the middle of the canadian prairie.

Welcome to Shilobrats, Arna. I was living in Shilo in the mid-60's when Lundy's Lane was being built. I thought the new occupants were so lucky to be living in these modern new houses, and the rest of us had these old houses from the 50's. Now Lundy's Lane has been around over 50 years, and there are new houses replacing many of the ones our generation lived in. Let your armybrat friends know about this site so you all can get re-acquainted like people our age have done. :!clap:

My apologies to the two Bills, I missed Halloween this year. The celebration of the monster marsh lies on. My 5 year old granddaughter and I sing a duet. She sings backup to my monster mash. Quite an act.

Sorry Bill; I was in hospital and read your comment back to me. I was surprised to see Doug did not carry on from there.

Time is affecting Remembrance Day. The numbers of attendants are increasing but the number of WW11 and Korea veterans has diminished. The old vets are being replaced by younger veterans, many in uniform wearing medals earned in Bosnia, Croatia, and Afghanistan. Today, my 10 year old grandson laid a wreath on behalf of War Amps. He is 62 years younger than me.
