Dear Doug J: ( and Faye, Doug Jenkins, Lonnie, Bill Brown, & Shilobrats Team)

In support of Lynnn Jeffrey's note: the influence and guidance provided by (sometimes despite our youthful opinions at the time!) devoted and talented teachers such as Mary Sheehan, Gerald Brown, Harvie McGhie and Ivan Traill and their peers, instilled values and skills that served many of us very well as foundations for our pursuits and relationships in adult life!

Personally, I must always assign much credit to Gerald Brown for sparking my love of the wriiten word, grammer and literature which served me well, even as a "dumb airplane pilot".

So sorry that I am not able to attend the "mini-reunion" in WPG, but please extend my love and gratitude to all those that are there!!

Cheers,
Bill Gillespie

Hi! Doug
Sadly I won't be able to attend the Reunion with Miss Sheehan. I left Shilo in 1972 to travel....After backpacking around Europe/North Africa for two years I applied for a job in 1974 with BOAC/British Airways... Miss Sheehan very kindly gave me a wonderful reference prior to my interview and I got the job! I visited so many wonderful countries during my flying days and will be forever grateful to her. Please send her my best regards and I hope you all have a wonderful reunion.

Hi Ian: Thanks for the good word; however, not my idea. Karen Pollock and Denise Pike had the idea and are the power behind it. I just joined them as a grunt.

I think Greg Leskiw is coming and will play a song to honour Mary T.

Looking forward to seeing Mary T next month at reunion. Just the name conjures up so many good memories. The plan is to jump the train in Ottawa, depart at the Peg and rent a car after the event to drive to Brandon and Shilo. By the time I get back to Shilo I should be 17 again or at least believe I am. Great idea Doug! Cheers

Ian

Reunion website at the address referenced on "What's new" has been upgraded. See who is coming. Check their emails. read their stories. Those of you who can't make the reunion, send an email and/or tell your story about Miss Sheehan. It will be added to the website under "moments" We are lucky that Harvey McGhie, 90 years young, will be attending We welcome stories about Harvey too. He reports he still has a driver's licence and all his "marbles" Between these two teachers, there must b a story or two. Thanks for your participation.

So far we have 14 committed attendees for the lunch with Miss Sheehan. We want more (25 or more) would be perfect. Latest person to indicate he will attend is Harvey McGhie 90 years old ("I have a driver's licence and my marbles";). Brandonites, Portage La Prairie brats and Winnipeggers, come and join us. Ken Jenkins is coming all the way from Victoria Island so if you live within 175 miles, you should make the effort and join us. You won't regret it. Go to What's New and click on the green link at the bottom of the page. It will take you to our webpage.

I was born in Oromocto, but then moved to shilo. There was some family problems. I've been searching for my mother and her side of the family. Their names are (moms parents)Sargent Gerry Lalonde and Betty Lalonde, (brother) Bruce and my mother Annemarie. This goes back to 1981. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it. Just email me. Thanks, Jason Fehr

Last year, a mini reunion in Winnipeg with teachers Mary T Sheehan (PEHS) and Gerald Brown (Greenwood) was arranged on short notice and attended by a handful of faithful 60's Shilobrats. Mary T was teacher and Principal at PEHS through the 60's, 70's & 80's and Gerald Brown (see Life was Calling feature in Special Editions) is ShiloBrats teacher consultant and keeps up to date tabs on our former Shilo teachers. Everyone said we have to do this again, but with time to include more people.
A web page has been started by the Reunion organizers to provide information updates and attendee list and is now posted on What's New page below the Reunion ad. Be sure to go through all the menu bar across the top for complete information. Alerts will be posted in the Guestbook when new info is added to the page. This is also a reunion with your friends, so contact them to come along and join everyone. Hope to see you there.:!coffe: :!coffe: :!coffe:
