Thanks Ian but all the glory should go to Denise Pike and Karen Pollock (maiden names). I was just a grunt. They handled setting the reunion up behind the scenes. I was only the webmaster (easy job) and the upfront person. Like a newscaster who reports the news the reporters have uncovered.

Congratulations to Karen and Doug for the lunchtime reunion. A lot of behind the scenes effort to get it together I am sure!

To see Mary T after almost 50 years was definitely a highlight for me. She was the nest teacher I ever had and "drove" me to find out what I could learn.

Great job by Doug as the emcee; had a chance to talk to former classmates and trade stories (all factual without a doubt) and then saw my old friend Rod March in Brandon on Friday. Rod is still Rod.

We also made it out to Shilo and toured the little base on the prairie. Things have changed but our old PMQ at 27 The Packway is still bravely standing, as is General Strange and the much enlarged RCA Museum. The "low road" (now called Veterans Way) is paved - the true sign that life evolves.

Thanks again to the organizers - it was a few days I will not soon forget.

The whole reunion was remarkable. We had 37 people in attendance - 6 of them were teachers, and 2 were people in the area who dropped in for a visit. We had folks from Ontario, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, and 5 towns in Manitoba. We also had a video-chat with 9 people from Ottawa. Doug and Ken and I have been playing e-mail tag for the last few months, getting together a list of people who were coming, and Gerald Brown gave us some of his time rounding up the teachers. I left Shilo 52 years ago and to see 4 of my Grade 12 classmates at this time in our lives was very special. It was wonderful to meet everyone as they arrived, and just reminisce about our connections to one another. I don't want to break my arm, patting myself on the back, but I had lots of feedback about how happy people were that they came to this event. Denise had a number of meetings with the hotel event manager, and we were very satisfied with the amenities at CanadInns on McPhillips. And I'd like to thank Boyd and Patricia van Aggelen who presented Mary T, Denise, and myself with bouquets of flowers. It was totally unexpected. Baby-boomer brats rock! Wayne Helgason posted some pictures on Facebook, and Ken Jenkins took a lot of pictures and will be posting them in the Reunion Gallery when he gets back to Courtenay in a few days. :!clap:

Remember a little about Shilo. Still know my way around. We lived at 55 Frontenac Cr. from 67 to 69 then on to Soest Germany. I was only 9 when we arrived in Shilo. My parents names are Chuck & Ursula Gregory. Dad work in supply mom work at the cafeteria. I do remember we would make your back yard into an ice rink every winter. Don't remember names but my best friend there had a color tv and it was the 1st time we watched batman & robin in color.

Ian: No, the poor Ghia suffered from tinworm and I left it in the South when we went North. However, the follow-on car - Scirocco - is in the yard at the farm (both a first gen and second gen version - both ice race cars). Some things never change. Hard to think I have been a VW enthusiast and racer for a half a century!!!!!! I don't have the same motorbike, but I lost count on how many I have in the shop and parked in containers on farm. My sidekick, Arch, is still doing the motorcycle thing, now full time in "retirement", so I guess we are both examples of long-term passion for the hobbies of our youth.

Gosh. You's Guy's. ...... I was born in 1948. I was in nursery School in old 'H' huts when houses on streets like Ubique were darn new. We lived in the huts when we first went to Camp Shilo. Then on to kindergarten. All of my early schooling was there until we left in around 1960 ish. We had a smaller house across camp until we got into #7 Ubique. ....I cannot recall the name of one teacher from those days. only one or two teachers from NS. I attended up to Gr.11 there but left to enlist in AF. in 1966. I completed Gr.12 and then some in BC at CFB Comox. I remember most teachers there. Shilo teachers are a blank. My younger brother Larry tells me the same story. ....I remember much about Shilo for sure but not teachers names or faces. Chuckle. My brothers and sisters always called me a teachers pet or Apple polisher.
