Comments: I was thinking the same thing, Faye, because it was a year ago at this time that I was putting my little LWC story together. It was Doug Jenkins who inspired me to do it. I didn't know Doug well, but we lived in Shilo in the same 10-year period. He didn't think much of Facebook, so for a few months last spring, we had a bit of e-mail nonsense. Doug had some challenges (as I did), but he kept his sense of humor (like me), and he wasn't afraid to be vulnerable. He had a very unique way of expressing himself, and sadly he passed away nearly a year ago. There are ten LWC submissions, 7 from men and 3 from women, and I wondered where were the stories of some of the bright attractive girls I went to school with. I'm sure they have some interesting recollections of their education, employment, travel, friends and family situations. Edie also said she hoped my submission would inspire others to go through their albums and come up with an accounting of where life took them. I was really quite impressed with Edie's talent at captioning, highlighting, organizing, and in some cases correcting spelling and grammar flubs, and she was always willing to make changes and add more pictures and data when necessary. Originally my plan in putting my information together was to give my kids a heads-up when obituary time comes, but they weren't too much interested in looking up the submission. Recently, however, I had one of those full circle family moments when my younger son became a first-time Dad at the same hospital where he had been born. When I visited him, his baby, and the baby's mother, I opened up his laptop and showed him my LWC story, and there was a picture of our family together in that hospital when he was a baby. He lifted it and put it together with other pictures and made a collage. So, all you Grandma and Grandpa brats, think about sharing a bit of your history with the few of us who have done so. I found it to be an uplifting experience to have a bit of baggage out there with an accounting of how I dealt with it and how it changed my life. Send it to Edie and you will be amazed at what she does with it. I'll be happy to e-mail you her addresses.

Comments: With so many memories in the guestbook, it's time for one or more of you to submit a life story to Edie Mullen (Edith Walker) so that she can post it to our LIFE WAS CALLING section here in Shilobrats. It will be fun to hear of another shilobrat's life!
Comments: Bump, I remember most of your stuff including our eternal games with the meatheads, freezing my * * * off in winter while my dog Mickey followed me to school in Grade one in Building A1 down by the golf course. I lived at 20 Ubique in 50/51 and I remember the old canteen between the Esso gas station and the Sports Palace. There was a murder-suicide near the weather station (or was that later?)
Comments: A request has been made to ShiloBrats from a former Shilo teacher Iris McKay, through ShiloBrats teacher contact Gerald Brown to post a notice of use of a photograph in a media production for APTN.
Hello, Gerald,
I hope that you have recovered and are back to your usual activities.
I have a favour to ask. Knowing that you are in touch with Shilo ex-pats, so to speak, I am wondering if you could put a note out to the members of a 1960’s girls’ volley-ball team that Raoul McKay coached and whose photo we would like to use in a digital media component that is to supplement a video we are doing for APTN.
In essence, I am asking if they have any objection to our using that team photo. The members of the team were: Sheila Love, Kathy Derbyshire, Pat Barker, Marshall West, Morag McKendrick, Pat Grouette, Faye Powers, Gloria Trainor, Sheila Rowland, Gill Willerton, Linda Prior, Judy Allen.
If you have any questions, send me an e-mail or contact ShiloBrats.
