Comments: I was thinking the same thing Paige when I read Peggy's post ... boy did it hit the nail on the head and bring back some great memories. The speargrass (made for some wicked, and painful games), the Guess Who concert at Strange Hall (I was there and remember Burton Cummings with no shirt, long hair playing the piano ... and some of the more "conservative" fathers in the crowd getting up and leaving in disgust. Still remember the "purple" prairies when the crocuses were blooming, even before all the snow was melted, and it's been years since I've heard the beautiful song of the Western Meadowlarks out on the prairies ... there's nothing quite like it.
Comments: Re: "I remember waking up on Kingston Ave with the bright prairie sun and the fields full of crocuses across the street. The fresh smell of the pig farm. While attending grade school I remember a kid with a long red/white striped touque who licked the fence in the winter - the teacher had to bring a cup of hot water to get his tongue off the fence."
All I have to do is change the name of the street, and THAT is the Shilo I remember...perfectly stated, and it brought a smile to my face Peggy.

While attending grade school I remember a kid with a long red/white striped touque who licked the fence in the winter - the teacher had to bring a cup of hot water to get his tongue off the fence. Years later we met again - in the Reserves in Ottawa. Steve Blake - small world. We had the same photos of the 1969 snow sculptures, skating club. Small world to say the least. I no longer have those photos as Lynda took the album home years ago, never to be seen again. I remember one winter standing, waiting outside with the windchill about -50. The school left us standing outside, freezing to death (I was 5!). Teachers had their warm coffees while we froze. That was the day I wore knitted pants. It was the last day I wore knitted pants for the rest of my life. I remember in the fall in the fields getting pulled across the grass, being dragged by the wind while holding onto small parachutes. On those same fields in the winter we'd open our coats for sails and glide across the ice (we fell a lot which probably explains why I am the way I am today!). I miss those innocent days. Our family saw the Guess Who perform and I remember that concert for some reason. Not all, just some. Spear grass - ouch! Those were the days my friends, I thought they'd never end. We'd sing and dance, forever and a day.....
Comments: Who could forget Mandy in the 10th grade?!!
Actually ... I don't remember a Mandy in the 10th grade, but then again I don't remember Anon E. Mouse either!
I plan on being at the Reunion, and challenge the following friends and fellow ShiloBrats from my cohort to step up to the plate and plan a trip down memory lane. It would be great to see you there!
Tom Jenkins, Marilyn Jenkins, Peter Brando, Janice Brando, Fred Baker, Don Lavendar, Tim Keenan, Blake Mooney, Jackie Williams, Sandra Roberts, Nancy Dingle, Ken McLaughlin, Lisa Henderson, Vicki & Leslie Henderson, Dorrie Crawford, Heather MacKnight, Karl & Karen Matthews, Randy Walker, Neville Headley, Chris MacGregor, Shaun Whalen, Ann Cumming, Mark Oullette, Adele McDougall, Tim Nieradka, Rowland Nichol, Karen Hall, Terry Robillard, Terry Ripley, Brian Moss, Helen Clement.
You're out there somewhere guys & gals ... take the plunge. Could be the last chance for this to happen ... I was disappointed when the 2007 Reunion didn't quite come together.
