Comments: Hi Ken, I'm smiling again..I was just going to save the photos re: Bruce and Penny to send to her and I noted your quick response. Great to hear from you. You know, it does seem like I just made a visit home coming to this site and now I have had a visit from a friend...thanks for your message. Also, I meant to say I was in Shilo from the 'late' forties - so I think I may be closer to you in age than you think but that doesn't really matter. As we get older, the spaces in time dimenish between us, and we certainly do have a lot in common. This morning a name came to me from Alfriston - Geraldine Morton - who lived across from us in the back. She used to have a lot of 'parties' there in her basement and I could hear them laughing, the noise, music, etc. many a time. And I remember that new green car with the fin fenders her Father bought. What a car! We had that old Nash then and we used to say that it ran on vapours because the tank always said empty. Jerry Crowder lived there too. I loved to dance with him whenever I got a chance because he was such a good dancer and we seemed to pair up at a competition once which we won at the school dance. I thought I was going to be a dancer after that for sure - but, not to be, although I still love dancing and all types of music. Moves my soul! The memories just keep coming so I will say thank you again for that. Have a great day! Sherry

Comments: Hi Sherry, so happy you found us, you are one of the ultimate Shilobrats. I remember you well, your dad and mine were close working and hunting buddies. Sad to hear about Bruce, he was a friend, and at one time our family lived across the street from yours on Alfristan. You had moved on then but I remember you used to visit. Something about younger guys having a fascination with older girls... and your name (spelling) will be corrected on that photo. Cheers!
Comments: Hi, I just learned about this site and was browsing through it. Was delighted to find some of the people I knew through the many moves we had into and out of Shilo. I lived at several different addresses in Shilo throughout the fifties and sixties and I believe even the early forties - H Huts as a baby) and have so many fond memories of the base and prairies. Took many trips (walking or biking) by myself out to Waggle Springs just to lie under the trees by the water, or to just lie in the prairies and look up at the clouds and sky while listening to the wind move the prairie grass around me. Loved the campsite and can remember nearly everything about it still. I relate to Shilo as being where I grew up as most of my time was spent there throughout my childhood. Lived in Douglas for a short while, and literally walked to Shilo every day and back for school. Can't forget that, but I loved it. Met lots of good people and looking over this site I was smiling at many of the photos as I saw many of you whom I know. Even found my sister and brother's photos from school there as well which really touched me as Bruce, my only brother, died in an accident last October on his way to see me from Alberta. So seeing his picture amongst the ones on your site really stirred me and did bring a few soft tears to my eyes, but it made me really happy to have seen it here. Also, the one with me in it re: the Fire Prevention Awards (Sherri Maines). I still remember that as I really wanted to win and I couldn't draw, but I did it anyway. Took me all night to draw a house, so when they called my name as a winner, I thought "WoW!!" - it was worth it - no sleep that is!! I want to thank you for the opportunity you have given me/us to be able to go back to Shilo and see our our friends again and to share our experiences there. There is no place like home, and Shilo is and always will be my home!! And all those whome I met, will always be my family!! Love to all. Sherry

Comments: Desperate measures call for desperate pleas. ShiloBrats is still searching for two PEHS Condita yearbooks, 1972 & 1973 and the cover design for 1977 to complete the collection. A request to the yearbook printer revealed that past yearbooks are not kept on file. Considering that copies from all other published years have been found, there must be copies out there somewhere. Please help complete the memories. Contact ShiloBrats if you have a copy of the 72, 73, or 77 PEHS Condita yearbooks.

Comments: We were in Camp Shilo from 1969 until 1974. Does anyone know what became of Greenwood School? It never seems to show up in pictures or memories. I think it was built as the high school, and then they turned it into a junior school, and made Princess Elizabeth the high school. My late father was Major Smith and our family lived at 25 Saper Avenue. My parents and brother are now gone. It does seem like a long time ago, however there were many wonderful memories of Shilo.

Comments: Just found out about this site from a friend of my sisters who recognized my name from living in Shilo from 1959-1962, grades 8, 9 and 10. Wow, it was exciting to see so many that I remembered. Once I saw the pictures I remembered who they were. I worked in Halifax for a number of years and now live in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia.
