Comments: For all those that knew Cheryl Pointer-Byrne, I talked to her mother today & she has asked me to let you know Cheryl had been very sick. Cheryl was a diabetic with acute pancreatitis and a 70% blockage of her heart. She died peacefully in her sleep last week & was cremated today. The family will have a private ceremony in the future.
For all you ShiloBrats I read to Mrs. Pointer (Herrington) all your responses and this is what she said, "Best regards & thanks to all for the kind words, prayers & thoughts. Wish we could all be around her & have a pizza PARTY!" R.I.P. our friend, Cheryl. R.I.P.

Comments: Faye has asked me to pass this along to all brats who are interested.
Terry Maskel is coming from the west to visit Ottawa! and he has some time for us Shilobrats! Kathie Cole might be here as well, from Callendar, Ontario.
Anyone who can make it, should come over to my house (a meeting place) and then once we think everyone has arrived, we can go out to a restaurant nearby for dinner. I figure if you can get to my pl ace anytime after 4:30 pm, have a drink, and then we can get a reservation for 6:00 pm.
I live at 10 Northgate Street. This is in Centerpointe which is in the west end of Ottawa. google map it! My home line is 613-727-8894, and cell is 613-762-3099.
Some of us are staying in a hotel overnight,so, we could do breakfast as well

Comments: It has been a long time since I have sgned the guestbook. I am excited to be going to Calgary on the 27th of September to visit Theresa Poirier and my son. It would be great to have a mini reunion in Calgary with anyone who remembers me. I had wanted to get to one of the many reunions that they had in Shilo, but there was always a reason at the time that I couldn't make it. I have never been to Calgary so I definitely am looking forward to it. Great website.

Comments: Following up...it was really short notice, on a summer weekend to boot, and in Naniamo...short for "middle of nowhere" but we came together in the spirit of Shilo.
Ken Jenkins, Theresa Poirier-Easterby (visiting from Calgary), Barb Willerton-Altseimer & husband Matt, and Andy Turner.
Thank you for coming and thanks to Wayne Helgason for trying to put together a Victoria contingent on short notice, there will be other opportunities.(photo now in ShiloBrats Reunions and ShiloBrats Facebook page)

Comments: Mid-Vancouver Island mini-reunion this coming Sunday August 19, 2012
Place: Miller’s Landing Pub & Bistro (beside the Departure Bay Ferry Terminal) in Nanaimo (you don’t have to drink) Sunday, August 19, noon to 4pm (whenever you can come) all Shilobrats are welcome, whatever generation, we all have a unique bond.
My sister Deb and I spent the afternoon yesterday with Theresa Poirier and Andy Turner in Nanaimo, (we lived on the same block on Esquimalt Cr. beside PEHS, late 50's, early 60's) had a great time, caught up with how young we still really are and how vivid and in tact the memories from that special place follow us forever. Theresa is visiting friends in Nanoose Bay, which is closer to Nanaimo and closer for visitors from Victoria.
We chose a casual, easy to get to setting for a gathering, with an early time for everyone to get home from where they came, at a reasonable time. Barb Willerton replied that she can come if it is early (has dinner plans with friends that evening) Would be great to have the gang from Victoria here, hope some or all of you can make it. Vancouver Island is also a special place (as we know) and love to make our visitors feel the same.
Wayne Helgason has suggested doing a car pool (or two) from Victoria, great idea for getting everyone together. Anyone interested please email me (or be spontaneous and just show up) and will keep you posted.

Comments: Had good time chatting and visiting with some friends from Shilo ( I think there were 12 of use in total). It was great being able to have such a great visit with some people who I have not seen for close to 40 years . Thanks to Donna for hosting, and thanks to everyone else who was there it brings back fond memories chatting with you all.

Comments: ShiloBrats: mid Vancouver Island
Theresa Poirier is in Parksville this week on a family visit and hoping for a rendezvous with any Shilobrats on Vancouver Island. Looking to put something together for a mini-reunion on Sunday August 19th
On the North Island / Nanaimo / Parksville / Comox area (that we know of) are Ken & Deb Jenkins, Barb Willerton, Alan Stickley, Andy Turner, also in the Comox area, Gary Kremsater, Jamie Chartrand, maybe Denise Bekkema & anyone we don’t know of?
Mini-reunions are a great way to bridge the gap between major reunions, if they can ever happen again? and it is not a long stretch for Victoria Shilobrats to join in.
Proposal: Boston Pizza, Parksville, Sunday 19th (time to be determined) Who’s in?
