Comments: I remember one year Chucky Wright and I did the whole base and can not remember how many times we had to empty our pillow cases. The good old days when you ate the rice crispy squares on the spot. And then later on in the year I would finally throw away those horrible Halloween candies that had the Halloween wrapper and were now hard as rock. Enjoy Halloween and be safe. Cheers Turk

Comments: Ken Hanlan:
Ken, thank you for your note regarding Eddie Karpetz, and I am very sorry to hear of his passing.
Just as some history-the Karpetz family resided across from us on Sapper Avenue during the early to mid 60's.
I was close friends with Dianne, Linda and Eddie Karpetz at that that time.
In the late 60's, I dated Linda Karpetz in Calgary when she was a Nursing Student at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary.
Subsequently, in the early 70's I was a Flying Instructor at a flying school located at Springbank Airport near Calgary when Eddie Karpetz came to our flying school seeking instruction.
That was my last contact with him or his family.

Comments: Hi everybody- We lived in Shilo in 1958-59. I came across this site by accident and while perusing the 'Pre1960' tab came across the 1959 Cub Scouts pic in the 'Misc' section. Low and behold there was my nine year old self! That's me, bottom row with the black eye. What a surprise. Also in the third row up, far right, is my older brother George (2 years older)and in the same row, sixth kid in form the right my twin brother Mark. All my brothers and sister Simone are still around though our folks are gone. Sorry to say I don't have a lot of clear memories of our time there- remember going to the movie theater, having my appendix removed and all the kids in my class writing 'Get Well' letters for me. A great site to visit.
Comments: Hello all. I was a Shilo brat from 1958-1965. One of my very good friends and classmates during those years was Eddie Karpetz. Eddies' dad was the Base Surgeon. Eddie went on to a long and distinguished career in the forces both as a pilot and later as a Dental Officer. It has recently come to my attention that Eddie passed away of ALS in 2010. For any of you reading this who knew Eddie in those days this is indeed sad and unfortunate news.
