Comments: We have had to make a slight change in our mini-reunion plans. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have made a reservation instead at the Viscount-Gort, same day, same time. This venue is also across from Polo Park and just across the lane from Olive Garden. I have renewed respect for those who have planned reunions in the past, as it is a fluid situation right up until the event arrives. I hope no one is inconvenienced by this. It might be even better! Lookng forward to see everyone next Thursday. Doug Jordon is bringing his iPad so we will be able to communicate with Gary Paine in Kitchener.

Comments: Attention - Shilobrats from Brandon, Portage, Selkirk, Steinbach, Shilo, and points between. If you are in Winnipeg on November 18th to see the Jets smoke the Canucks (hopefully), or if you are coming in November 19th to see comedian Kevin Hart do his schtick at the arena, or if you are just coming into shop for Christmas - please consider dropping into Olive Garden (just across from Polo Park) for a visit (and maybe some wine and breadsticks) with former Brats and 2 teachers. Some of us will be bringing some memorabilia, and we may even have a conference call from another Brat in Ontario. We have one "definite maybe" from someone in Minnedosa. Anyone else interested - let me know. It is going to be -3 with a few flurries next Thursday - not that bad.
Comments: Here's a copy of my letter to the rime Minister:
Honorable Prime Minister, Mr. Trudeau. I implore you to reconsider reducing offensive effort against ISIS. I would remind you that millions of voters like myself voted Liberal in order to defeat the Harper Conservatives, not necessarily to pull out our CF18's out of Syria and IRAQ. After the tragic attack on French citizens on November 13, it would be foolish to assume that the best efforts of the RCMP,CSIS, and the CSE can prevent an attack on the citizens of Canada. Before this happens, the Liberal Government would be wise to step up the effort to defeat ISIS on its own territory. Indeed, the Opposition Party is not opposed to this action. Personally, I would feel ashamed of the Government of Canada backing away from supporting our Global Partners with military effort. Canada has a world reputation for its military contribution and effectiveness in fighting terrorism. Why would you back away now? Certainly, the people of this country will accept a change in your position after watching the terror in Paris. Yours truly, David Kearney,CD
Comments: Miss Sheehan and Gerald Brown, two prominent teachers from Shilo still with us, will be together in Winnipeg, at a luncheon to reconnect with Shilobrats, Thursday, November 19, at 11:30 AM at the Olive Garden on Portage Avenue.
Gerald Brown (see ShiloBrats Special Edition on Gerald Brown) and Miss Sheehan (who was part of every generation of PEHS 1950's to 1987) will be present to greet Shilobrats from any decade. Drop by to say hello, or to be part of the luncheon, contact Karen Pollock Middleton at the email address on her posting, to be included in the reservation...and please take photos for ShiloBrats Gallery Reunions Album.

Comments: If anyone attending this lunch has an iPhone/iPad perhaps we could FaceTime and I could visit with all of you "in person"
Comments: I realize it is short notice, but I am very happy to confirm that Mr. Gerald Brown will be bringing Miss Sheehan to our previously mentioned mini-reunion on Thursday, November 19,at 11:30 AM at Olive Garden on Portage Avenue. Please let me know by e-mail, Facebook, or Shilobrats if you are interested in attending, along with Denise van Rooyen (Pike) and I, so we can make a reservation. Doug Jordan - I hope you will be able to come. Is there anyone else that you think who would be interested in coming. You know, we're all closing in on 70, and if Miss Sheehan can make it, surely a number of her grateful students from 50 years ago should be able to attend Please let me know ASAP. Doug, there are 2 or 3 other things I would like to talk to you about. Could you message me on FB? Thanks!

Comments: Lest We Forget. ......In my Shilo days I remember quite vividly attending Rememberence Day ceremonies in the Sports Palace. The ice was removed and in the rink area was where the procession was held. We watched from within the bleacher benches. I was involved as a group member as a Boy Sout Troup in at least one Rememberence Day parade. I was very proud. After leaving Shilo and as a member of the Stadacona Sea Cadets in Halifax I again was proud to be on Parade. ...As a member of the RCAF I attended three Parades in my time. Never once was it a chore. ....Every year at our ceremonies here in CR I attend and proudly wear my service FF RCAF red arm band along with my wedge and badges. All with much pride. Lest We Forget.

A Wikipedia quote:
"Esperanto is a constructed international auxiliary language. It is the most widely spoken constructed language in the world.[5] Its name derives from Doktoro Esperanto ("Esperanto" translates as "one who hopes", the pseudonym under which physician and linguist L. L. Zamenhof published the first book detailing Esperanto, the Unua Libro, on 26 July 1887. Zamenhof's goal was to create an easy-to-learn, politically neutral language that would transcend nationality and foster peace and international understanding between people with different languages."
