We lived at 38 Alfriston from 1958-63, grades 4-8. There's a few names I remember: Terry Clarke, Kathy & Barb Derbyshire, Greg Mayan, Glen Darling, Monty Sitter, Carol Eastwood, Art Sly and certainly Edith (Edie) Walker. It's been a loooooong time!!!!!

Wow.. recognize so many names from my 4 year stay in Shilo and the photos of the choirs make the connection to so many faces. If any of you recognize my name, please let me know.

What a great website that brings back many memories. We were posted to Shilo in 1950 and were the the first occupants of 59 Kingston Ave.I was 4 and we lived there till I was 10 in 1956. My dad WOII Dwayne Shaver was the chief clerk at Garrison HQ.I don't recognize 59 Kingston in your photo as the siding then was shiny aluminum and there was no grass, only sand. Our next door neighbours were Earl and Millie Rounds.I started school at Princess Elizabeth public school in 1952.I also remember playing little league baseball for the "St. Louis Cardinals"and freezing my feet waiting for my turn to play hockey at the outdoor rink in -20 degrees. Thanks for the memories.

Going through some old memories surfing this site. my dad (Glenn Johnston) got posted to Shilo in 73 from Chilliwack. he was a struct tech and was brought in to shut down the base. that didn't happen, he ended up working for the Germans doing the base CE thing, driving the green van and taking care of pmq's. he used to tell me sometime he had to wait for his paycheck to be converted to dollars from marks even though he wore a Canadian uniform. We only lived on base for one year because my parents didn't like renting. We ended up in Brandon for the following 2 years till he got posted to Ottawa. I was in grade 7 at greenwood with Mr Barry as our teacher. not sure what schools my younger siblings went to. (Melanie,Scott,Heather and Greg). We lived on Lundy's lane. I think 23, across from the Frances (Al and Lynn were the kids i remember)and beside us were the kozil's (not sure of spelling) I remember our first winter there after coming from BC, we weren't used to the snow. but dad did take us out to some hill on the way to turtle lake (sure thats the name of the pond)for sledding. memory is a little foggy this is close to 40 years ago but the kids i used to chum around were mostly Michael Carlton and Gary white, the girls were Monica Sullenbach, Wendy Bekkema and Michelle Grandmaison. thats enough rambling for now.
thanxs steve johnston

During the 50's and the early part of the 60 PEPS had a janitor we called "Hawkeye". Does anyone remember him? He lived in that small one room apartment up in the balcony. Does anyone even remember him or know what his name really was? Did anyone ever take a picture of him?
