How do, if there is anybody out there from my time in Shilo drop me line. I have not seen very many messages from the people I went to school with either friends, sports or the old party groups and ranch people I hung around with, we can not all be dead are we. Keep in touch , it is nice to know how people are getting along either good or bad. I was not a angel then and I am not one now. Take care, hope to hear from old friends. Joe

Hi all. Signed this a few years ago and caught with a couple people and figured I'd update again. Lived in Shilo from 1962 to 1971. First on Citadel then at 27 Alfreston. We were on outside edge of the camp and my dad grew gardens and I built a wooden "fort" well out past our actual backyard fence. Some of my friends back then were Andy Buick, Paul Sawatzky, Terry Walker (right next door) and Jim something (also next door, jeez, cannot remember his last name, he was a year or two older than me). The McKnights lived in the house on the other side and he was a principle of one of the camp schools for a few years. A lot of memories. I always thought Shilo was a perfect place for a kid to grow up. I've driven back through the base 5 times in the past 25 years as I was on travels. The first time it was under control of the West German Army and the front gate was still secure. I looked up a random name in the phone book in Brandon with any address of a street I knew on base. I went up to gate, said I was there to visit Mr. XXXXXX a that address, they looked it up and let me in. Seems crazy now that I took that chance but I really wanted to go back and drive around my old life. I will be back there again. It pulls you.
Drop me a line if you knew me or my family.
-Butch (George, but back then it was just "Butch".

I have listed a website that may be of interest/assistance to any Brats that were born outside Canada and may be having citizenship issues. A fellow Brat has taken up the fight of helping those who are in citizenship limbo due to their birth and lapses in the red tape. She has gained the attention of our Military as well as the government.

G'Day brats, just taking a break from tinkering with the Forum a bit to see if I can loosen some of those memories out there. When you visit next door you will see a new group of topics under General Discussions that I hope will remind you of stories you've been hanging on to far too long. Don't wait to have kids before you start talking about what it was like when you were growing up. OK you've had kids and they don't seem to care, well other Shilobrats do; we went through all of that with you, even if JH doesn't remember necking with Bucky D, Bucky does!

For those of you who find trying to navigate the Forum is like running into a brick wall, ie Edie below, and I was one my first visit, it can be done. I have a new box of tools to work on that situation and coming soon to help will be the Forum Tour, and the Forum Workshop to guide you through the steps to make your Forum experience magical.

The story you tell in the Forum, unlike the Guestbook, will not disappear after a few other postings or trickle down Waggle Spings into the Assinaboine River. It stays in place and can be added to by others so that everyone's memory of that subject is together in one place.

Watch for changes happening in the Forum as we redesign the interior to make you feel more at home, or just to hang out with old friends and share memories....and if you think of something we could add, tell us in the How Can We Improve? forum.

Well back to tinkering, and remember your two cents worth is money in the bank. Cheers for now...Dr. J

"We NEED a R.I.O.T." Here's your chance to find your way around in the Forum if you want to see my response. Let us know how you make out as the Committee is meeting Sunday evening and if you have questions related to posting in the Guest book or Forum, it would be a good time to ask Ken or Lonnie. Thanks!
