Comments: I will put some photos together. Address on The Packway was 27; First PMQ was on Esquimalt. I also have brothers Ian & Andrew and sisters Bronwen & Glynys, all went to PEPS. We lived two houses down from Rod and Anne MacLeod and next door to the Wolfes. I recall the dentist Randy who lived on the road going into Sapper from The Packway , he died very young leaving a young family--but in Calgary, many years later, when I went to the dentist there was a familiar face it was young Randy, his son. Randy "the elder" always hired me to change out his storm windows and screens. I gained customers by word of mouth for "changes" and putting up/taking down TV antennas. Of course Mrs Sheehan lived not too far from us and Keith & Judy Hummel who had also lived just down from us in Picton with their beautiful boxer dog Ricky, Gloria (I think Johnson --married Keith) was also a few doors down on The Packway. My first summer I worked at 44 COR and ended up with Neil Sheppard putting together all the new lockers for PEPS but mostly playing Horse in the gym as we could always put together our quota or a little over to keep our supervisor happy when he checked on us at 4 PM to get our completed locker count. I got to play fastball with the COR team in the base league, I remember Buzz Buzby the pitcher for the Para Packing Depot as I met up with him several times during my military career. Charlie Pyle was one of the last great army boxers and a member of 44 COR, when not employed constructing lockers I would be Charlie's helper, we spent a good deal of time avoiding the Bosses. I remember football with Byron Brown who was the quarterback, Ron Clarke, Tom Ross, Greg Greene, Don Jordan, Ray Grant and Chris Mariott who also played on the Teachers Hockey Team along with me and Keith Hummel (in fact in later years I played for the Parachute Maintenance Depot against Keith one season in Edmonton, he was a pilot then, I cannot remember what squadron) and teachers Raoul McKay, Doug Birch, Ron Smith. I remember particularly well Mr Rumball who would regale us with stories of WWI and Al Clarke a remarkable P.E. teacher. The Sly brothers, Art who sang a terrific rendition of "Sweet Pea" in a talent contest and managed at the old CANEX for a spell (who is now a successful banker in the Maritimes) and Terry who I see from time to time, he and my brother Andrew were and are great friends. Of course the marvellous Howie’s and the old teen club where they played and practiced down in the direction of the rink. The old jump tower sticks in my mind as when I went on the parachute course jump tower training was redundant and maybe that was a good thing. Dave Findlay who managed the golf club in Petawawa for many years during the time I posted there and who has now passed on. There are many more people, activities, good times and good memories. It is hard to realize that was 45 years ago. I liked my time in Shilo and all the people I met and remember.
Comments: Brother Capt. James "Jamie" Keenan, born 13 April 1963, Brandon General Hospital, while we were living at 11 Sapper. Jamie is a Griffon helicopter pilot and instructor in Petawawa, and will be heading for Afghanistan soon to fly Chinooks.

Comments: My sisters: 1. Jo-Ann Helgason born November 12th, 1960 in Shilo, and frankly, since the hospital in Shilo closed in 1960, I think she might be the last baby born there! 2. Sherri Helgason born September 13, 1967 in Carberry, while we were living on 47 Quebec.
Comments: As a Shilobrat, there are special feelings we have about our time living in Shilo, they have been expressed many times, but how does it feel when Shilo is your home town?
A new Special Edition is being created to recognize those who were born in Shilo, or in Brandon to Shilo parents. A list of the names we have so far, is posted in a new Inter-Active! forum, ShiloBornBrats
Were you or any brothers and sisters born when you lived in Shilo, check the list, please let us know, post any information or comments you have in Inter-Active!, the Guestbook, or the Contact form.
What we would like is a name and the year they were born there. The Special Edition will be a themed page of images and trivia from each year we have ShiloBornBrat names for, and we would like as many names to begin, once posted new names can be added.
