ShiloBrats Guestbook

Comments:
Last weekend you may have seen Glenn Darling post to the Guestbook and register to InterActive!, then disappear.

Glenn was one of my closest friends growing up, from cubs to scouts, through school and more activities than I can count, then later in Winnipeg, he as a DJ and me in bands. Although I heard he was around these parts and following ShiloBrats I was elated to see him post and make the connection. I sent him an e-mail to let him know I had seen him, and we have to catch up.

But as monitor his posting put me in an awkward situation with the website he entered. Glenn, if I understand, now makes his living marketing websites that on ShiloBrats would be highly considered as spam. The donations made to see ShiloBrats continue are used to host the ShiloBrat site in a marketing free environment. We do have the occaisional stranger post with a spam website only, and are quickly eliminated, but this is the first time I have been in this situation with a fellow ShiloBrat.

When Glenn didn't respond to my e-mail after a couple of days I began to think that maybe his his posting had an alterior motive to use his connection to ShiloBrats as a marketing opportunity. At first I tried to find a way to just remove the website and make the explanation to Glenn, but the program won't allow me to do that without removing the entire post and by this time I had let it hang too long. I composed an e-mail to Glenn explaining the situation and he was welcome to post again without the website. I deleted them to pave the way for Glenn to post again.

Glenn responded with a remarkable reply that also included a lesson in diplomacy for me. His website was posted because there is an invitation to post a website, not to take advantage of his connections to Shilo alumni and had he understood, would not have included the website.I should have given enough advance warning of the situation for him to understand and not suddenly be caught off guard like he was. For that I sincerely apologize.

Glenn asked that I explain to ShiloBrats why his posting disappeared and I hope I have done justice to that. I have certainly learned a lesson from this as friendships are so delicate. Thanks Glenn for your patience with me in this matter and will hope to see you back soon.

Well said Bill...Nov 11th is a good day to thank those who are gone and those who survived and those who still serve today.

Marching to honor the soldiers on your next reunion is a good idea. I, like you, appreciate that there are people wearing the uniform willing to sacrafice their lives to keep this country and others safe.

Hi Tony, It's been a very long time since we knew each other and unfortunately it is usually at the sad times that people reconnect. I just wanted to send my deepest condolences to you as well as Pam's family on her passing. Dana

The email addie shilobrats at shaw dot ca has been shut down and is no longer functional. As I no longer play a role in Shilobrats, it seemed rather silly to continue using that addie. Further emails should be sent to the address as noted at the left. Hope all of you and yours are well. This is my last post here.
