WOW! Nice new webpage. Thanks so much for keeping this going. I always enjoy checking in to see who signs in and have been reconnected with several friends from the 70's. All the work that has been put into this website - past and present to future - is much appreciated and always a joy to look back on.

Glenn, really happy to see you again and hear you're going to be active. It sounds like I'll have to create a new catagory called ShiloBrats Confidential. We did start this off with a soap opera. You and I could fill up the rest of the server space with just our stories alone.

A point for other brats, After you have been through the site several times to take it all in, many return on a regular basis to see new activity in the Guestbook and Forum. The Forum was renamed ShiloBrats-InterActive! to encourage activity there. These features are only going to be as active and interesting as you make them. It just can't always be the Bucky and Jinks show. Right now the last activity to take place in the Forum was by wood ticks, talk about Interactive!...and the reason for Dr. J to come on board?...even I couldn't stand seeing the name Jinks on the board so often, so I post as Dr. J for ShiloBrats business.

Glenn was the biggest practical joker in school and and I'm sure there is a lot more input for School Daze and all the catagories for that matter. I really hope you have sparked something here Glenn, the more activity, the more response. Our desire is to see ShiloBrats become fresh, fun, interesting, entertaining, informative and InterActive!

About a current photo, I first posted as Dr. J with one then changed it to demontrate another feature of the forum site, so for you I will put it back. Be active and challenge others to respond...aahhh...who am I again?

The world is but one country, and mankind its citizens. And the Shilo Brats exemplify this in spades. Being army brats, some hardly had time to get their feet on the ground before dad was posted off to some other God forsaken place in the middle of no where. But everyone who ever spent time in Shilo knows well that service kids don't get to make friends over a 12 or 13 year period while going to school. Three years was an average back in the 50's and 60's. But for some strange reason we seemed to pack a lot more friendship and memories into those limited years just because we knew time was short.

I am long on memories of Shilo and eager to see pictures and hear tales of where my old friends have been.

To Dr. J (Ken Jenkins, Jinx)I thank you for your kind words about my first attempt to post and ask that you make up for being out of my life for so long by posting a picture. I have you in my mind in a little league uniform, and a scout uniform, and believe me friends I could tell you some stories about the antics of people like Ken and Bruce Bowman and Byron Brown and a lot of other. In fact I think that is just what I will do from time to time. Stir up a few memories. Like the time we were sneaking around on the roof of PEPS and came across a certain pair of teachers in a position that... well you know what I mean. Or how we would rankle the teachers by banging on the pipes while crawling through the heat ducts under the school. We put on track suites so as not to get dirty. It worked every time. Teachers knew it was us but could never prove it.

Does anyone want to hear a few tales of yore?

What can I say. A day late (more like several years) and a dollar short. I just found this wonderful site and boy did the memories come flooding back. I took a look at my grade 10 and 11 pictures, 67 & 68 and realized how geeky I really looked.

Thanks for the memories.
Ron

Our very own Edith Walker (Edie Mullen), (the one we all remember as the prettiest girl in PEHS, and truly still one of my favourite people) is responding to a calling. She’s leaving for AFRICA next week! Her “Hands Across the Water” journey will find her in the Loos Islands (wwwdotloosislandsdotcom) for quite some time, working and teaching residents, reconnecting with the earth, giving some of herself back to the world, and undoubtedly leaving her "Edie" mark on African women and girls.
If you do nothing else today, click on her website shown at left. And do not miss the little video that Edie has made up about her personal journey. It is sincerely moving and inspirational (and coming from an accountant, that’s gotta be something!). Download the free quick time player so you don’t miss it.

Godspeed, Edie. I am honoured to call you my friend.

Last weekend you may have seen Glenn Darling post to the Guestbook and register to InterActive!, then disappear.

Glenn was one of my closest friends growing up, from cubs to scouts, through school and more activities than I can count, then later in Winnipeg, he as a DJ and me in bands. Although I heard he was around these parts and following ShiloBrats I was elated to see him post and make the connection. I sent him an e-mail to let him know I had seen him, and we have to catch up.

But as monitor his posting put me in an awkward situation with the website he entered. Glenn, if I understand, now makes his living marketing websites that on ShiloBrats would be highly considered as spam. The donations made to see ShiloBrats continue are used to host the ShiloBrat site in a marketing free environment. We do have the occaisional stranger post with a spam website only, and are quickly eliminated, but this is the first time I have been in this situation with a fellow ShiloBrat.

When Glenn didn't respond to my e-mail after a couple of days I began to think that maybe his his posting had an alterior motive to use his connection to ShiloBrats as a marketing opportunity. At first I tried to find a way to just remove the website and make the explanation to Glenn, but the program won't allow me to do that without removing the entire post and by this time I had let it hang too long. I composed an e-mail to Glenn explaining the situation and he was welcome to post again without the website. I deleted them to pave the way for Glenn to post again.

Glenn responded with a remarkable reply that also included a lesson in diplomacy for me. His website was posted because there is an invitation to post a website, not to take advantage of his connections to Shilo alumni and had he understood, would not have included the website.I should have given enough advance warning of the situation for him to understand and not suddenly be caught off guard like he was. For that I sincerely apologize.

Glenn asked that I explain to ShiloBrats why his posting disappeared and I hope I have done justice to that. I have certainly learned a lesson from this as friendships are so delicate. Thanks Glenn for your patience with me in this matter and will hope to see you back soon.
