Comments: Flew over Shilo today at 37,000 feet on a beautiful clear day enroute to Toronto, as I've done many times over many years.
Looked down on that tiny speck on the land-you have to know where to look to see it-and mused over how that miniscule place has impacted the lives of so many people from so many places for such a long time.

Comments: Hi All, it's been a few months since I checked in. Mary MacDonald, welcome to our home!!! I remember so many crazy girl times. You always could make us laugh till we cried.
To add to Rusty's post on the murder/suicide. I do remember it because the girl was Yvonne Hamer and my babysitter. She had been dating a soldier who was older than her and her parents objected. So she began to see another young man. That night they were on a date at the movies (now the drill hall behind the mall). While walking home with her escort her ex hid at the back and when they walked by he shot them and then went back to the barracks and killed himself. That was bad enough but the man escorting her was not her new boyfriend. Since he was a new recruit he had to be back for bed check and had asked a friend to walk her home. In so many ways Shilo really was a little Patten Place or maybe all small towns are like that. Some stories were true while many were just assumptions turned into gossip. Anyways as long as you were a kid there it was great. We really did have some great times. I didn't know I was an unofficial historian Doug, but I do have so many memories of Shilo. Ever hear the one when Miss Sheehan tried to drive her car from the coffee shop to Royal via the field in the back. Oh and it was winter and she must have had a wee bit of Christmas cheer that night.
Comments: Checking in to say hello to all of you from the 60s. Is anything planned fo Manitoba Homecoming in Shilo this summer. We plan to be in Winnipeg for part of the summer, and could make a side trip to my old stomping grounds.
Comments: Well, apparently he won a silver medal three days ago!!!!!

Comments: Hey. How's everyone doing? Been quite a while since I've posted. I have looked in periodically tho. Been 'sidelined' due to some ongoing health issues. All is well now. In fact, my Doc says that 'I will outlive him'. I sure hope so, as he is 87 yrs old! Shilo 'may' have another connection to the 2010 Olyimpics. Jim Robertson, (#5 Ubique Rd. 67-72) has a son Michael. (Mike Robertson, Siver Snowboard Cross) I know that Jim's parents retired to La Cory Ab. I lost touch with Jim long ago. Anyway, maybe someone who is 'in the know' could check this out further. 'Maybe'! Cheers to all, GO CANADA, GO'!
Comments: Can anyone remember when you got a free admit to the theater when you stayed behind and cleaned up? We were child labourers for only a dime, that's how much it cost to get in. How about Coffee Cup #1? It was being built in the early 60s or late 50s. Strange Hall was where we went swimming and earned the Red Cross certificate and bronze medalion. Do you remember Snuffy Clark, he was one of the hardest lifeguards there.

Comments: It seems that we are destined to cross paths with our former Shilobrats no matter where we are living or what we are doing. After retiring from full time work last year, I returned to work part time a few weeks ago at our local mental health facility. As I was being introduced to the health care team I would be working with, I stood to shake hands with a fellow nurse whose name was Mary Ratensperger and who I recognized right away as being Mary MacDonald from PEHS. So we both had an OMG experience when I told her who I was and connected us both to Shilo. We've had great fun working together since then, but haven't had time to get together off duty to reminisce (work keeps getting in the way). Who'd a thunk it?? Penetanguishene of all places. So Faye .. Nancy ... Tanis ... and everyone else interested in getting together in Shilo for 2010 homecoming this year ... count me in. I will reserve both long weekends. We could make an informal mini-reunion of it. Yay!

Comments: Faye et al....would definately be interested in a get together anytime in or around Shilo. Any chance we could get a tee time during the weekend. Shilo was the first golf course I abused as a kid and would like to try it again.
