Comments: ShiloBrats Gallery Teacher Feature: Cover Story
Miss Sheehan appears on the cover of Teacher Feature as the longest serving Principal of PEHS. English teacher, drama coach, yearbook mentor, Mary T was always there for us, and always there with us for almost three decades. She survived the 60's brats with their ruthless practical jokes and attempts to get under the skin of our teachers, later to become Vice Principal and get even. She always handled it with grace, even when the crude thumbtacks on the seat failed to get a rise out of her. She never let you know they were there. In 1970, Miss Sheehan became Principal and remained in that position until PEHS closed in 1987.
There isn't anyone who attended PEHS that wouldn't remember Miss Sheehan, and there isn't anyone who doesn't have a story. Mary T is 85 this year, and she will be watching. Make her blush!!! What do you remember about Mary T Sheehan.

Comments: The Shilo Goldeyes story is amazing, and very few people from Shilo even know about it, unless you were in a family that was part of it, or friends of the swimmers. Most of the accomplishments happened away from home, which is even more amazing considering these were mostly 8 to 14 year old kids breaking provincial swimming records on the road in prairie winters. They were up at 4 am in the mornings for practice and back again after school every day except Sundays, then on the road to major centres for swimming competitions.
The real heroes are their families and coaches like Fred Allen, who trained and supported their efforts for years to reach these accomplishments, who got them to practice and back every day, who accompanied them on the road to the major competitions.
And now exactly 50 years after winning the provincial swimming championship, Fred Allen is still here to keep the amazing story of the Shilo Goldeyes alive, an amazing story itself.
ShiloBrats created a Special Edition (on page 2 of Special Edition menu) telling the story of the Goldeyes through the scrapbook pictures, clippings and memories of Lynn Davis and Debbie Jenkins. Click on the pictures and headlines on each page to get the full story. Revisit or check it out for the first time. It is a story of Shilo families and the memories they made.
Comments: Way to go Fred Allen. Sounds like you have had a exciting life and much more to go. Thanks Turk
