| You have that my brother John Nottelmann & I (Sharon) lived there from 1962-67, which is correct. But my sister Jeanette also lived there. We called her Jeannie now. |

Good to see that the site made it into the new year.
Our first time to Shilo was in the early 60's. We lived at 13 Frontenac Cres. There were my brothers Rick, Brian and Mark. Can't remember who our neighbours were at that time.
On our second trip to Shilo (1968) we lived at 18 Lundy's Lane. At that time there were a few additions to the family. I gained a sister, Rosemary and a brother Raymond. My sister Teena came along just before my dad decided to retire and make his final move to Brandon.
Our neighbours were the MacDonalds, the Andersons (who lived in the other half of the PMQ). Across the way were the Warnetts, and Mr. Jim Harris. Across the street was Mr. Allen Kearns.
I am looking fwd to seeing those addresses added to the map. _________________ T.J. Nieradka |

I remember walking into 17 Alfriston Cr. in winter of 69 like it was yesterday. All 6 girls, Michele, Gaye, Martine (myself Kim), Heather, and Susan...Mom and Dad.
Pam Johnson....I remember your Dad saw us getting out of the car, and telling your Mom "I think they are opening a girls school, down the street" (He told us that in Sylvan Lake...many years later).
One of the biggest mysteries of living there was "How did we manage with "one" bathroom, Mom, Dad and six girls" Poor Dad!!
Our neighbors, I remember - Wendy and Donald Smart live on one side, and the Thompson's shared the same duplex we lived in.
***************
Mr. Smith lived just down the street, as I use to babysit his children "after" I got the strap from him! I was in grade 6, and it was during gym class. We had to run around the school for exercise, and it was hot!
Mr. Smith had his windows open, and of course, me, being a smarta$$, called out "poor suckers" to those sitting in the class, sweltering in the heat.
As I rounded the corner, Mr. Smith was waiting by the doors.. and yes, I was escorted to the office. At first I really didn't think they would use the strap on a girl....wrong!
I do recall my hands being hotter (and, a tad red), than it was outside that day.... what a great memories....
"Mr. Smith" and "Mr. Clark"....my two favorite teachers in all my years in school...yes, after I finished school, went on to find I enjoyed being a "professional student", off and on...over the years, different areas, all interesting!
Now living in Edmonton, semi-retired at 50, only working temp. jobs or contracts of interest. Which proves, I was teachable...probably because of that strap, and of course, the excellent teachers!
Will be back with more memories...glad to see the site....sad to hear they are tearing down PEHS.
Will be back later...Kim West |

What a great site... brought back so many good memories. I haven't been to Shilo since 1974 and can't believe all the changes I saw in the photos...
We (Pete, Lorraine, Claude and Pierre Mallet) lived in Shilo from October, 1966 to June, 1974. We lived at 61 Frontenac from 1966 - 70 and at 25 Larkhill from 1970 - 74. I don't think there was a better place for a kid to grow up. We then got posted to CFS Moisie, QC - believe me, this only confirmed how great a place Shilo was.
Just curious... I saw that two house on Frontenac (34 and 107) were torn down. Does anyone know why or what happened? |

I was friends with Connie Otty and my brother went out with Sharlene Rowland.

We had come from Picton with others whose fathers were in the Artillery - Pineaus, Gordons, MacMillans and others. The first people we met were the Rowland sisters ... Sharlene and Berniece. Butch Otty .... I'm certain the boy named Jim whom you can't remember was my older brother Jim, and our last name is Davis. WE lived in the right hand side of the duplex. Next door to you at # 29 would have been the Harringtons ... "Sonny" (Albert), Leslie , and Jill. who were friends of our family. And the Edmonston girls whose father was with the Provost Corp. were between your place and ours at # 25. In 1964, we moved to 21 Sapper Avenue, just after the Roberts left (Philippa, Moya, Mark and Faye). I would appreciate hearing where Moya might be if anyone should happen to know. My other brothers, some of whom some of you will remember: Gary, Greg, Ron (now deceased), Cameron, and Leonard (also deceased). And of course the oldest was Jim, retired now from the Signal Corps, and who has a memory like an elephant for everything that ever happened in Shilo and can recall it all in detail. Which is why he ends up telling all the stories at the reunions. |

| I saw a note from George " Butch " Otty and had to see if we could get in touch ....some of the names he listed as old friends rang the bell for me as well . Here's some others, The West family ...Michelle and Gaye were my age then, Susan Powers, Bruce Hillman to name a few . I remember Shilo with extreme fondness and remember the "fort" and remember almost burning it down and getting in lots of trouble. Riding behind the mosquito fog truck on the bicycles . I keep an old arial photo of the camp and have it hanging in my office /computer room. Nice to see others also reflect on those days with fondness. George I heard you actually live on the west coast give me shout, I'd love to get together and talk about the "fort". |

I remember moving into 1 Esquimalt Cres sometime during the summer of 1960. My brother Gord, and sister Marylee and I were there for the next 5 years. Next door was Sheila Powell. Across the street in #2 was Robbie Payne. The Bittles, Doug, Allen and Don and their sister lived in #5 and I think Randy McGonigal lived in #7. It was a great 5 years. Can remember the great celebration and front page news when they put the grass greens onto the golf course and the water trap on hole number 7(?).
This is a great site and many thanks to Ken J who steered me in this direction. The names that appear here send me back too many years to admit. Was good friends with the folks listed above. I remember the movies at Strange Hall along with the bowling alley, pool hall, swimming pool, and gym and time spent there with a pool cue in my hand. Although the coffee shop was across the street in the little mall, I didn't hang out there all that much. Ended up working in the bowling alley setting up pins on weekends. Made the incredible amount of .05 cents a string for 5 pin and .10 cents a string for 10 pin. We thought we had broken the bank. We left in 1965 for Ontario and I didn't get back until 2000 and saw all the changes. Even the old house was changed. Last I heard though, the house was gone and nothing was there except an empty lot. Will have to get back in the next while, maybe next year to see what all has happened. |

| Lived at 22 Sapper Ave., 1955-1962, seven great years for a little kid. Went from Kindergarten to Grade 6. I went back once, around 1972, on a drive across Canada. Enjoyed seeing the town but really wanted to find Waggle Springs, so I'm glad there's a posting here on that topic - I never heard it called "Wigles." But I also remember biking out to Chater Creek to go swimming in a cow pond with lots of leeches. Does that ring a bell with anyone? |
