"Wearing red on Fridays is like giving our troops a huge round of applause."

The first thing a soldier said when asked
"What can we do to make things better for you?" was...
"We need your support and prayers."

Canadians who support our troops used to be called the "silent majority",
but they're no longer silent, and are voicing their love for God, country
and home in record-breaking numbers. They are not organized, boisterous or
overbearing. They get little liberal media coverage to reflect their message
or their opinions. This is grass roots pride.

"When we all wear red together, it adds volume to our voices in color. It
speaks of our pride, our appreciation, and our support for our Canadian
Forces members and their families."

We are not talking about support for current military strategy, Many
Canadians simply want to recognize that the vast majority of Canadians are
just showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect,
by continuing to wear red each and every Friday until the troops all come
home. May they all come home.

We are SHILOBRATS....
children of a military background, children whose fathers and mothers
stepped up to the plate for their children, their friends, and their country.
We want to say 'thank you', to tell them how much we appreciate them and
how much they mean to us,..or meant to us. We want to take our hats off
to today's troops, many from our own C.F.B Shilo, who aren't with their
families, who may never have a chance at their own reunion, because they
are risking their lives so that we can have ours.

We want to "wear red" on Friday, Aug 1, 2008, when we arrive at our
"Sixties Shilobrats Reunion". We want to march down the street, clapping
our hands and giving our show of thanks and respect.
