CANADIAN ARMED FORCES STAND ON GUARD
Article in the December 30, 1965 SHILO STAG entitled GERMANS SHOW EQUIPMENT: followed by CANADIAN ARMED FORCES STAND ON GUARD, May 30, 1968
"The Federal Republic of Germany formally gave Canadians their first view of the latest in German armoured equipment during two demonstrations held here in Shilo on December 16 and 17. The equipment consisted of a "Leopard" tank, tank destroyer, guided missile carrier, and and armoured infantry fighting vehicle, was put through its paces on Shilo ranges for the press and for a group of Shilo personnel. The first demonstration, held December 16, was essentially a press conference during which Lt.-Col. Wilhelm Mundt, Commander of the German trial team, explained the equipment and the purpose of the trials to some 40 persons representing the various press media of Manitoba. After an initial briefing, the gentlemen of the press were invited to a static display of the various items of equipment, and then to an outside demonstration during which time the equipment performed a series of manoeuvres which showed their mobility and capabilities. The following day a selected group of Shilo citizens were invited to attend a similar demonstration."
